The idea for this strip came to me before we saw the film, but the film definitely made the idea funnier.
Meryl's performance really is excellent, possibly her finest work to date. The whole 'but she's not British' thing is completely forgotten - the likeness is so perfect it's scary.
The movie's story made a few unusual choices (focusing on her dementia and hallucinations of her deceased husband) and skimmed events for the sake of time (not including Thatcher's work as a chemist or her time as a barrister), but it told the tale well. You might not feel any sympathy for the real Thatcher - if you're anti-Thatcher, this movie isn't going to change that - but you certainly understand where she came from and why she was the way she was.
Give Meryl her Oscar already.
Oh, and go see 'The Muppets'. If you care at all for the Muppets, the new movie will make you feel warm and fuzzy in even your darkest corners.
