This piece, like the Guitar Hero one, started life in a comic strip (here) and is one of my favourite images of Bagel. Where the previous Art Blog entry was explosive and silly with a colour palette reflecting this, my Bagel picture is much more an exercise is subtlety. Most of the black linework was changed to brown to soften the picture (except for the nose and the signature).
I used some internet pics as photo reference for Bagel's colouring. In the other colour comic strips showing Bagel, his colouring is a little inconsistent but I'm satisfied that this will be his look going forward.
This picture was completed before the 'Old Spice' comic strip, so I used the colours from sleeping Bagel as a guide when I was colouring up the comic strip.
